I discovered the Klokers brand earlier this year, after noticing their kickstarter campaign and having a chat with Richard Piras, CEO and Co-founder, on messenger. I have known Richard a few years, and he brought it to my attention. The kickstarter campaign went viral on 15th September 2015 and reached 100% goal in 8 minutes. Exactly 1,563 backers pledged €605,898 to help bring this project to life.http://www.atimelyperspective.com/blog/2016/10/17/time-travel-kickstarter-and-my-klokers-klok-01-watch.html

In the luxury-watch business, independence is a tricky thing to define. Does it refer to freedom from corporate rule? Or to a lack of reliance on outside suppliers? Most Swiss watch connoisseurs would argue both. One thing, however, is not up for debate: The industry’s best and brightest independent makers are at the forefront of horological creativity—and they are courting collectors with a vengeance. Here are RobbReport.com’s picks for five of the top independent watchmakers. - See more at: http://robbreport.com/watches/slideshow/5-independent-watchmakers-you-need-know-about-slideshow?utm_channel=Social&utm_source=Twitter#sthash.K3DYAjkf.dpuf

I was shooting one of my newly arrived Grand Seiko's recently when I noticed that the Seiko logo on the dial looked different to that on another watch that I'd shot recently. This morning I thought it would be interesting to have a look at how the logo has changed over time. http://forums.timezone.com/index.php?t=tree&goto=7222891&rid=12189#msg_7222891

When it debuted at Baselworld last year, the TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer 01 was deemed TAG Heuer’s most important release under the new creative direction of Jean-Claude Biver. It’s hard to argue with the significance of a product which has the brand’s own name twice in its title, but that’s probably beside the point. What is the point, however, is that the 21st-century genesis of the Carrera was deemed successful enough to be carried forward with three new and decidedly modern variations of the TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer 01 Chronograph just announced for Baselworld 2016.http://www.ablogtowatch.com/tag-heuer-carrera-heuer-01-watch-three-new-models/

A few weeks ago, I visited the Jaeger-LeCoultre factory as I talked about in Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Specialized Department For Artistic Crafts: Enamel, Gem Setting, Engraving, And Guilloche. While I was there, I spied a watch the artisans were working on and rushed over to try it on (yes, I admit it’s a bad habit).http://quillandpad.com/2016/04/12/heartbeat-the-mesmerizing-jaeger-lecoultre-rendez-vous-high-jewellery-tourbillon-with-black-enamel-dial/

Watch collectors rightly worship at the altar of Swiss made watches as they represent everything that is collectible about any product; first class workmanship, superior, cutting edge design, choice and diversity from entry level through to the most exquisite haute horology concepts. The only country that can hold a candle to Switzerland in ingenious watchmaking is the Japanese, and what a massive contribution they have made.http://www.watchuseek.com/7-ingeniously-japanese-watches/

If your plan was to spend less money this year on watches, you might want to skip this article. Most mechanical dive watches are priced under $10,000 (even though the iconic Rolex Deepsea, Sea-Dweller, and Submariner watches, as well as many Blancpain Fifty Fathoms models, might go for a bit more nowadays), but there are several types of fascinating dive watches that go way beyond that.http://www.watchtime.com/blog/5-ultra-complicated-dive-watches/?utm_source=WatchTime+Daily+Update&utm_campaign=41e3345350-WT+Daily&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_8338768216-41e3345350-14531153&mc_cid=41e3345350&mc_eid=1436559a32

A. Lange & Söhne blew away many watch connoisseurs at this year’s SIHH with its undisputed headliner, the Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon. Deep Blue has built a reputation for itself when it comes to professional grade dive watches. The use of extensive testing and rating, ridiculous luminova and tritium, durable materials such as sapphire and ceramic used for bezels, helium escape valves and more, the brand has come a long way since its start in 2007. Relatively new, they have developed an excellent following around the forums and are known as a great affordable tool watch.http://www.watchuseek.com/baselworld-2016-deep-blue-and-air-blue-live-report/

Photos of St Andrews, the Unversity etc.

King's Cross Station.

At our allocated seats. The journey: 5 and a half hours.

No on-board entertainment. Read a book or look out of the windows.

Leaving the station.

The English countryside. Wind turbine generators.

Solar panel farm.

The first view of snow.

The North Sea. Passed Edinburgh and now on the way to our final destination. No snow at all further North we went.

Leuchars Station is a simple station with a small covered waiting area.

Apart from that there are the ticketing office and the vending machine. That's all to the station.

We took the bus to get to St Andrews. It was just a 5 minute drive away. But it did take us 350 meters of walking to get to our hotel.

The time was 4 pm but it was already dark.

Despite it being a weekday (a Monday) no much activity in St Andrews.

A real quiet town.

Next morning we went to visit the University for a tour as well as a meeting the International Student Office . Below is the international centre.

Below is one of the halls of residence.

At the moment practically empty as it was Christmas break.

A standard cluster of rooms consist of 5 individual rooms in a secured corridor.

A typical room comes with internet, TV and attached bathroom.

Standard queen sized bed as a study table.

Each cluster has a complete kitchen with living room set.

Well equipped.

The main entrance.

A shot of a top floor of one of the faculties we visited.

Many of the faculties are located in old houses.

The town of St Andrews is practically owned by the University.

Here is another halls of residence that Prince William stayed.

One of the colleges in the University. St Andrews University does practice the same college style setup as Oxford and Cambridge.

This is the old library section of the University.

St Mary's College.

Our tour guide explaining the history of the University.

Typical British weather, dark and gloomy. Even the townspeople tend to stay indoors.

The gang with warm clothing on.

The city of St Andrews is not that big at all. Here is the map of the town. I guess you can cover the whole 'city' within half a day of just walking.

Off we went.

Some ruin castle near the sea.

Was told that in summer, stage shows are held here.

The beach looks rocky. Unlike our sandy beaches in Malaysia.

I bet in summer this place would look just beautiful.

A typical street in the city.

The tea shop where Kate met Prince Williams.

The opera.

Every city review we visited, The Jannettas Gelateria was mentioned as the 'must-visit' place in St Andrews. Despite it being a cold December, we were in the mood for ice cream.

There are tons of flavours. We got the proprietor to choose the most sort after. We were not disappointed. A cup of hot chocolate can never go wrong too.

This was after we went through the town.

No rush, so we enjoyed sitting in the nice comfy ice cream parlour.

A family photo.

A typical creation - a sundae.

This is the coordinate of the hotel where we stayed in St Andrews.

The next morning we took a taxi to get to the train station. From the bleak platform you can see the military airfield.

Waiting at the platform with other students from the university going home for Christmas.
