The contemporary IWC Portuguese is not merely a watch, but rather an entire model line within IWC’s collection, with everything from chronographs to minute repeaters and perpetual calendars counted among its ranks. It is one of the stalwarts of the Schaffhausen brand’s collection and almost universally loved by watch aficionados for the line’s clean, classic aesthetics, purity of design and fascinating history. And it all sprang from a single request from a singular watch market. Actually, make that two requests. http://gearpatrol.com/2014/07/15/icon-iwc-portuguese/

After exhibiting its talent in the art of watchmaking to the public with a skeleton piece, the Tissot T-Complication Squelette, Tissot wanted to prove itself in front of the experts. The anchor of a mechanical watch serves to transfer the energy from the spring barrel to the balance wheel in the form of pulses whilst permitting the movement to run according to its frequency and thus display the passage of time. Whilst its form is indeed reminiscent of its maritime counterpart, not only is the watch anchor's function much more complex, its production is disparately more demanding than forging a piece of steel.http://ahci.watchprosite.com/?show=forumpost&fi=16&pi=6513928&ti=941908

Last year's 2014 "re-issue" of the Speedmaster Mark II Co-Axial Chronograph watch was a clear hit for Omega. I know because not only did I get one, but a few of my friends did as well. While I preferred the more traditional black and white dial, Omega released two other versions last year including the Omega Speedmaster Mk II grey and orange "racing dial" (reviewed here) as well as the limited edition Rio 2016 Olympics model with the gold, bronze, and silver colored subdials. Apparently, the "new" Omega Speedmaster Mark II proved so popular that Omega decided it was time for a steel and gold two-tone model - which is exactly what we get for 2015 with the Omega Speedmaster Mark II Co-Axial Chronograph Sedna Gold watch.http://www.ablogtowatch.com/omega-speedmaster-mark-ii-two-tone-sedna-gold-watch/

Panerai is now recognized as one of the major brands in the industry and has a huge impact on its aficionados and collectors, the ‘Paneristi’. But it has not always been like that. Around the turn of the nineteenth century, innovation in scientific and industrialization fields was all the rage. No place better exemplifies this than Paris’ iconic Eiffel Tower. At the time this signature building was erected as the entrance arch to the Paris World’s Fair of 1889, the iron lattice tower’s designer – engineer Gustave Eiffel – was hailed as the prophet of a new form of architecture. Incidentally, it took two years for three hundred workers to put together the 18,038 iron components using two and a half million rivets. Interestingly, the Eiffel Tower was criticized by the citizens of Paris as an eyesore in 1889; today, of course, it is considered striking architectural art.http://www.forbes.com/sites/elizabethdoerr/2014/02/07/why-paris-was-also-a-horological-capital-of-fashion-in-the-1800s/

Over the last few years, several iconic dive watches from the past have been reintroduced as so-called “homages” by brands that were not originally involved with the production of said watches. Sometimes other versions of these same watches have even been launched simultaneously by the original brand, which had the exact same idea (and a lot more legitimacy in doing so). One of the more recent examples of such a multi-reintroduction is the rather unique-looking French dive watch, the Grands Fonds 300 (grands fonds means “great depths”), which debuted in the 1960s and featured, among other attributes, a monobloc case construction, a flexible bracelet, and a crown positioned at 6 o’clock.http://www.watchtime.com/blog/dive-watch-wednesday-the-return-of-the-zrc-grands-fonds-300/?utm_source=WatchTime+Daily+Update&utm_campaign=2df79a42cd-WT+Daily&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_8338768216-2df79a42cd-14531153&mc_cid=2df79a42cd&mc_eid=1436559a32

A great luxury watch collection is never complete without a smart rubber strap watch. These timepieces carry exceptional style, a high level of dependability and are ready to wear for all occasions. Compared to conventional materials like steel and leather, the rubber strap is lightweight, more comfortable, highly water resistant, rugged, secure and durable. The strap allows the skin to breathe and protects it from allergies. Rubber strap watches are the best option for divers, sports enthusiasts and adventure seekers where water, sweat and grime cause corrosion. Rubber repels water, making it practical for water sports and hot and humid climates. These straps do not stain easily and with a little maintenance, become quite long-lasting. Here we review some exceptional rubber strap watches for their superlative style, durability and resilience. - See more at: http://www.ethoswatches.com/the-watch-guide/rubber-strap-watch/?utm_source=Twitter&utm_campaign=TWG-Twt-Rubber-15062015&utm_medium=Twitter-Organic#sthash.Nh6Tu53S.dpuf

A mention of three-wheeled automobiles might remind you of the horrifying stability (or rather instability) of Asian Tuk-Tuks and the funny looking Reliant Robin, but we have seen that pushing the single wheel back in the construction can make the trikes a lot of fun. Both Morgan 3 Wheeler and Campagna T-Rex are bonkers when pushed hard. Now there is another three-wheeled roadster which looks quite like the KTM X-Bow but only with a single wheel on the rear blending the best elements of a motorbike and a sports car. And this one’s from the United State. Polaris has finally unveiled the three-wheeled Slingshot, and much to our liking the design looks futuristic with sharp edges and bold lines. The angular body sits on top of a steel spaceframe that supports the dual-wishbone front suspension. One of the most anticipated events at each year’s JCK and Couture watch and jewelry shows in Las Vegas is Bell & Ross’s Friday evening cocktail party at its villa in the Wynn. And one of my annual traditions is enjoying a fine cigar — rolled on the premises by a skilled torcedor — with Bell & Ross CEO and fellow cigar enthusiast Carlos Rossillo (the “Ross” in Bell & Ross) at the party. This year, the experience was extra special, since the cigar in question was an all-new, official Bell & Ross cigar — a Nicaraguan puro made specifically to accompany the brand’s Vintage WW1 Edicion Limitada timepiece, packaged in a unique box that doubles as a humidor.http://www.watchtime.com/wristwatch-industry-news/watches/couture-2015-bell-ross-courts-cigar-aficionados-with-vintage-ww1-edicion-limitada/?utm_source=WatchTime+Daily+Update&utm_campaign=dd4950bd9d-WT+Daily&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_8338768216-dd4950bd9d-14531153&mc_cid=dd4950bd9d&mc_eid=1436559a32
