There are brands that craft watches inspired by timepieces from the Art-Decò period, the 50s, the 60s and the 70s and then there are other brands with such a longstanding tradition behind them that their timepieces were actually the trend setters in those years. Vacheron Constantin definitely belongs to the latter category of manufacturers. http://www.horbiter.com/en/vacheron-constantin-historique-cornes-de-vache-1955-50s-trend-setter/

Since I launched Total Watch Reviews nearly three years ago I have established working relationships with many Australian retailers. These have included companies like J. Farren Price, Vendome, Watchpartners, Avstev Group, Big Watch World and Swiss Watch Box. Another person I have communicated with on a regular basis is Perth based Josh Reed. Although Josh’s core business is jewellery he has a penchant for haute horology. In fact he sells watches from brands like HYT, Rebellion, Ressence, Romain Gauthier and Louis Moinet SA. As Australia only has a small population (and hasn’t got the same demand as other regions) he has really taken a leap of faith on representing these small independent watchmakers.http://www.totalwatchreviews.com/2015/08/17/louis-moinet-sa-jurassic-watch/

A few weeks ago, I received the Panerai PAM 615 (or Luminor Submersible 1950 3 Days Chrono Flyback Automaic Titanio in full) for a hands-on review. This Panerai PAM615 as well as its brother with a titanium bezel, the PAM 614, were introduced in Geneva earlier this year. I’ll start out by saying that the Grand Seiko 62GS is one of my favorite watches on the market today. This isn’t because I have anything against Swiss watches (which isn’t true) or because I’m a lover of less-beloved horology (which probably is), but because it really is one of the best watches available. Simply put, the Grand Seiko is a timepiece that has attained what I’d consider “classic” designation, and that is a direct result of how the watch was designed 55 years ago.http://www.watchtime.com/featured/vintage-eye-for-the-modern-guy-part-2-grand-seiko/

The last really new J12 from Chanel was the Chromatic that aBlogtoWatch debuted to the world here. Back in 2011 when Chanel released the Chromatic it upped the ante for Chanel's "ownership" of ceramic as a luxury material with a new metallic gray material that mixed ceramic with titanium. Chanel really started its own ceramic revolution with the original J12 watch about a decade ago. In black or white, it was anything but a polarizing design as the J12 is still beloved by many. Having said that - even though I think the J12 is a nice men's watch - it was women who found it the most interesting.http://www.ablogtowatch.com/chanel-announces-j12-moonphase-38mm-watch/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Ablogtowatch+%28ABLOGTOWATCH%29

So, I have to admit that I don’t own a lot of quartz watches aside from the vintage Seiko 7A38 I just reviewed. In fact, I rarely buy automatic timepieces any longer as I really enjoy winding a watch every morning. Therefore, it was a little odd when Robert-Jan shot me a note asking if I’d be interested in testing Seiko’s latest Astron, a watch that is clearly on the opposite spectrum from mechanical. However, I am the resident “Seiko guy” on the team and I’m also the one most frequently found hopping in and out of time zones, so there was certainly logic behind the request.http://www.fratellowatches.com/hands-on-seiko-astron-titanium-review/

The Rolex Day-Date had always been the most elegant, refined and luxurious watch of the Oyster Collection by Rolex – that also has elegant watches in its Cellini collection. Exclusively made in precious metals – gold or platinum – it was available for years in 36mm and more recently in 41mm (with the Day-Date II), but still with the same complication: a 3-hand timepiece showing the date and the day in a unique (but now iconic and highly copied) way. For Baselworld 2015, this luxury Rolex receives a serious update, not only by getting new colours but also by coming with a new case and, mostly, a brand new movement. Michel Parmigiani holds up an antique singing-bird snuff box and pushes a slider on its side. The lid of the box lifts and out pops a small, mechanical bird, which stands upright at the center of an oval opening. Performance complete, it falls back into the box like a virtuoso musician retreating backstage after a concert. The now-discontinued Rolex Day-Date II had a diameter of 41 mm. In my opinion, that watch was a bit too big and lacked the finesse and perfect design ratio of the original Day-Date in 36 mm. British watch brand Bremont — which already this year began a partnership with Jaguar cars and had prominent placement in the big-budget spy thriller Kingsman — has pulled off perhaps its biggest coup yet, announcing last week that it has been appointed as Official Timing Partner to both the 35th America’s Cup and the defending Cup champion, the Oracle Team USA.
