Hero of the luxury watch maker independents, and master of marketing and product, Geneva-based MB&F will now release the brand’s first perpetual calendar timepiece with the Legacy Machine Perpetual. This newest member of the Legacy Machine watch collection family was produced in collaboration with Irish-born watchmaker, Stephen McDonnell, who is one among that rare breed of super-talents behind the scenes. McDonnell designed the manually wound perpetual calendar movement inside of the Legacy Machine Perpetual from the ground up as a fully integrated new perpetual calendar mechanism totally distinct from everything else out there. Set in the same 44mm wide Legacy Machine case as the original LM1, the Legacy Machine Perpetual Calendar is, perhaps, MB&F’s most direct competition to the storied product collections of Switzerland's largest and oldest watch "maisons" to date.http://www.ablogtowatch.com/mbf-legacy-machine-perpetual-calendar-watch/

La Chaux-de-Fonds-based Girard-Perregaux has unveiled a stainless steel version of its now-iconic Girard-Perregaux 1966 timepiece. With the release of this limited edition Romain Jerome Super Mario Bros. watch everything has finally come full circle for me when it comes to my relationship with luxury "nostalgia" watches. I once smirked sarcastically when people bought watches that reminded them of their favorite 1960s and 1970s era race car driving heroes and I rolled my eyes as brands sought to charge high prices for gimmicky "collectible" watches inspired by historic events. Sure, sometimes those timepieces were very cool items, but would consumers really want to get them mostly for their nostalgic value?http://www.ablogtowatch.com/romain-jerome-super-mario-bros-watch/

Despite its simplicity, the A. Lange & Söhne 1815 is intriguing and diverse, being line of watches that encompasses both the first entry-level Lange wristwatch and also the most complex and expensive Lange watches ever.http://www.watchesbysjx.com/2015/11/five-facts-to-know-about-lange-1815.html

It requires a perfect storm of cutting-edge design, flawless functionality, and providential timing to create a classic wristwatch. In a relatively short span, the Richard Mille RM 010 Automatic has been accepted as a modern icon - instantly identified by its shape and employment of avant-garde materials. When you can pinpoint the brand from twenty paces, you know you've succeeded. But once you've achieved that, what do you do next?http://www.ablogtowatch.com/richard-mille-rm-67-01-automatic-extra-flat-watch/

While there have been plenty of good things both said and written about HYT, one of the most frequent and widespread criticisms of those who just don't "get" the brand is that their new releases are little more than updates on an already existing model. This opinion will no doubt greet the unveiling of the HYT Skull Maori watch, which is an update of one of HYT's most gimmicky offerings. http://www.ablogtowatch.com/hyt-skull-maori-watch/

Contemplate the entire world… through the eyes of a watch collector. With the Montblanc Tourbillon Cylindrique Geospheres, you’ll be able to do so but not only. What you’ll contemplate is superb, high-end watchmaking, a piece that shows what Montblanc can do best. Already introduced at the SIHH 2015 in a warm red gold case with a bright dial, the Montblanc Tourbillon Cylindrique Geospheres NightSky now comes in a new (but highly limited) edition, with a white gold case and a dial partially covered with aventurine – and we had the chance to get our hands on this superb piece.https://monochrome-watches.com/montblanc-tourbillon-cylindrique-geospheres-nightsky-review-price/

This week we will be covering a watch with more than a few ups and downs in its history: the Breitling Navitimer. It has been loved and shunned, shut down and revived, but today stands strong as a modern series of an iconic watch. Launched in 1952 specifically for pilots as an evolution of the 1942 Chronomat, the Navitimer 806 soon became the official watch of the AOPA (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association), a rather well-known aeronautical associationhttp://www.watchtime.com/featured/vintage-eye-for-the-modern-guy-part-12-breitling-navitimer/

I really like being excited by a watch, especially when I never saw it coming. The more time I spend studying timepieces, the more I realize I don't know. Digital. What does the word even mean? Depending on your frame of reference, it can mean a lot of things. One of the most common examples of a digital machine is a computer. Meaning that its is designed to be able to distinguish between two values: zero and one. These representations are more specifically called numerical digits – symbols used to represent numbers – and thus also represent the origin of the word digital.http://quillandpad.com/2015/02/22/iwc-portugieser-perpetual-calendar-digital-75th-anniversary/

If you’re an ardent follower of the horological world, it’s not an unknown fact that IWC Schaffhausen always gives the spotlight to a particular collection each year. 2012 was the year of the Pilot. 2013 belonged to the Ingenieur and 2014 was the year of the Aquatimer. Not surprisingly, 2015 was the year of the Portugieser a collection which also happens to celebrate its 75th anniversary. Do you remember high school, sitting in art class, being instructed on how to make your mother an ashtray out of clay (those were different times) and realizing that you were completely hopeless when it came to ceramics? In 1987, Daniel Roth left Breguet to start his own manufacture. His grandfather and great grandfather had also been watchmakers in the La Chaux de Fonds region of Switzerland. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of his own watch manufacture he created the Papillon. The Daniel Roth Papillon is a striking timepiece. It has the ability to appear round, rectangular and tonneau at the same time.
