Movement: Tissot and ETA's 'Powermatic' movement is essentially a modified ETA 2824. ETA took the 2824's 28,800 bph operating frequency and reduced it to 21,600 bph to save energy. It goes without saying that the second hand is a little choppier than a standard 28,800 bph watch because of this. They also improved some parts to reduce friction which also saved energy. The movement bolsters a larger mainspring as well which allows for the 80 hours of stored energy. Another cool feature of this movement is the 'High-Tech Escapement' which they proudly stamp on the rotor. If you look at the movement through the display back, you'll notice the regulating bar is not there. The speed of the watch is set in the factory with a laser for precision and eliminates the need to regulate the movement. That said, I'm gaining maybe +2 sec/day so I'm quite impressed.
